the tooley & foster partnership
the brief for this project was to provide a modern multi purpose hall with support facilities, along with seven key worker flats. christian action housing association were keen to promote a contemporary living environment whilst still providing facilities compliant to 'scheme development standards'. the development involved the demolition of an existing disused church, freeing up a valuable brownfield site near the town centre and local amenities. tamsin developed the design to allow for the access and use of the public areas to be completely seperate to that of the residential, the latter of which was arranged around a courtyard, allowing south facing views over the adjacent recreation ground. the scheme was designed to include rainwater harvesting and passive solar control.
