this scheme involved the design and delivery of a sure start and community centre to a deprived estate in barking. tamsin led the project through from inception to completion and built up a close working relationship with the clients, who were very proactive in the design process. the scheme wrapped around part of the existing primary school, forming an external courtyard. each of the three nursery rooms focused on the needs of the children and staff whilst ensuring high levels of natural light and ventilation. each nursery also opened up to a covered external play area. this project resulted in a high quality, modern educational and community facility that has been published in the riba educational review and a number of school building journals.
