conrad was the project architect on this scheme to provide a new observatory building and refurbishment of existing telescopes. this highly technical scheme meant that positioning of the new building in relation to the existing telescope domes was critical. the new building not only provided the necessary research facilities for undergraduate astronomy students, but also provided an insight into the stars for the local community. this project gained a civic trust award.
