nottingham university samworth academy is a new 950 placement secondary school, predominantly funded from the building schools for the future programme. when complete it will replace the existing school, creating a fantastic new educational and community facility for future generations to be proud of.
although tamsin was the project architect post planning, she was not involved in the initial design. however the design philosophy arose from the idea of a large circulation and exhibition space nestled between two main teaching arms, with the "heart" of the building, containing the catering and reception facilities, linking all of these. with a specialism area in food technology the catering area, including a dining area and restuarant, will be open to the local community and will allow for a relaxed, informal dining experience. against this the double height reception area and internet cafe provide a large, flexible, multi-use space.
